The beginning of December saw the conclusion of the 2023 CEU Democracy Institute Leadership Academy (DILA) program. This year’s cohort consists of 19 outstanding fellows from Central Europe. Participants include mid-career local and municipal leaders, civil society activists, political party representatives, and policy experts.
Fellows explored current challenges civil and political leaders face in democracies throughout the three residential sessions, as well as during the bi-weekly online meetings. Sessions were held by leading international faculty of scholars and experienced practitioners, while leaving ample space for peer-learning as well. The curriculum covered topics on democratic governance and aimed to equip fellows with a wide range of strategic and leadership skills that are instrumental for a successful career in public life.
DILA is a unique, part-time, 12-week-long English-language leadership training program set to redefine the future of leadership in Central and Eastern Europe. Its mission is to empower a new generation of public leaders who are dedicated to championing democratic change in their communities and beyond. This was the second cohort of DILA fellows, raising their total number to 38. Alumni of the program are the foundation of a new generation of interconnected public leaders in Central Europe.
