New Video Series: Team Populism

The video series was launched with the leadership of Steven Van Hauwaert and Levente Littvay, to share videos created for online classes with the entire community.

In this three-part series, Kirk Hawkins and Levente Littvay chat about their 2019 book, Contemporary US Populism in Comparative Perspective (Cambridge University Press, Elements Series).

Stijn Van Kessel and Steven M. Van Hauwaert discuss their 2018 European Journal of Political Research paper, and more specifically talk about the role populist attitudes play throughout populist support. At the same time, they touch upon their 2020 West European Politics paper (with Javier Sajuria), which examines the role of misinformation, most notably as part of right-wing populist support.

Cristóbal Rovira Kaltwasser and Stijn van Kessel talk about the 2013 Government and Opposition article Cristóbal wrote with Cas Mudde, entitled "Exclusionary vs. inclusionary populism: Comparing contemporary Europe and Latin America". They discuss the two interpretations of populism, how and where we predominantly see them and, perhaps most importantly, they discuss whether the typology still holds today - almost a decade after the article was initially written.
