Daragh is PhD. candidate at the Department of Environmental Sciences and Policy at CEU wherein he is examining the potential of deliberative democracy to promote climate action through drawing on the Irish experience. His research is particularly focused on critically exploring the empirical merit of deliberative forums and the extent to which the outcomes of these innovative processes are (and ultimately may be better) integrated into representative systems and public policy.
In his professional life, Daragh has served as a researcher and policy advisor at the national, EU and international levels. He has consistently strived to provide a voice to affected citizens’, communities and stakeholders to address economic, environmental and social inequalities. His work includes co-authoring "The UNEP We Want" Report from Major Groups and Stakeholders (MGS) wherein he conducted a critical assessment of current UNEP engagement processes in advance of its 50th anniversary and UNEA 5.2.
