The research relies on mixed methodologies, including population survey and interview and fieldwork based qualitative data collection. In line with earlier inquiries by the involved researchers on social responses to crisis situations (2015-16 ‘refugee crisis’, covid-19 pandemic), the project investigates the forms, organizational frameworks, and motivations of solidarity acts for Ukrainian refugees. It seeks explanations for refugee supporting aspirations (and its absence or rejection), and the effects of solidarity activism on social discourses on responsibility, deservingness, and marginalization.
